Impact of high-intensity interval and moderate-intensity continuous exercise on heart rate variability and cardiac troponin

چکیده

BACKGROUND: It remains uncertain whether exercise modality (high-intensity interval [HIE]; moderate-intensity continuous [MCE]) mediates exercise-induced changes in markers of pro-arrhythmogenic state and/or cardiac damage. This study examines heart rate variability (HRV) and troponin T (cTnT) kinetic responses to HIE MCE.METHODS: Fourteen sedentary, overweight/obese females completed two trials including (2-min running at 90% V?O2max followed by 2-min 50% V?O2max, repeated for 60 min) MCE (70% steady-state a randomized, counterbalanced fashion. Supine HRV was evaluated as root mean square successive differences (RMSSD), normalized low-frequency (LF) high-frequency (HF) spectral power, well the LF/HF ratio before (PRE), immediately (0 HR), 3 (3 HR) 24 (24 hours after exercise. Serum cTnT assessed using high-sensitivity assay same time-points values were corrected plasma volume changes.RESULTS: Exercise temporarily altered all indices (i.e. RMSSD HF decreased; LF increased 0 HR, P<0.05) but rebound increase observed similar between modalities. The significantly elevated (P<0.05) HR (by 688%) 374%) with no between-modality differences. There significant correlation delta change metrics.CONCLUSIONS: (workload-equivalent vs. MCE) did not mediate alteration autonomic activity elevation, it seems these are largely separate phenomena.

The Impact of High-Intensity Interval Training Versus Moderate-Intensity Continuous Training on Endothelial Progenitor Cells in Overweight Women

Introduction: Obesity is linked to cardiovascular diseases, characterized by endothelial dysfunction, the optimal mode of exercise for controlling obesity of high-intensity interval training or moderate-intensity continuous training has is the however not yet been determined. Materials and Methods: A total of 33 inactive and overweight women, aged 40-50 years with body mass index over 27kg/m2 w...

Metabolic and hormonal responses to isoenergetic high-intensity interval exercise and continuous moderate-intensity exercise.

This study investigated the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) vs. work-matched moderate-intensity continuous exercise (MOD) on metabolism and counterregulatory stress hormones. In a randomized and counterbalanced order, 10 well-trained male cyclists and triathletes completed a HIIT session [81.6 ± 3.7% maximum oxygen consumption (V̇o2 max); 72.0 ± 3.2% peak power output; 792 ± 9...

Effects of Wearing N95 Respirators and Surgical Masks during Progressive Running Exercise and High-Intensity Interval Training on Time- and Frequency-Domain Indicators of Heart Rate Variability

Background and purpose: Wearing face masks has become popular during the COVID-19 pandemic as a measure to prevent the spread of the virus. Some studies have pointed out the intervening role of these masks in the effect of exercise on the cardiovascular system. This study aimed at examining and comparing the effects of masking (N95 respirators and surgical masks) and not wearing a mask during e...

Heart rate recovery and heart rate variability are unchanged in patients with coronary artery disease following 12 weeks of high-intensity interval and moderate-intensity endurance exercise training.

Decreased heart rate variability and attenuated heart rate recovery following exercise are associated with an increased risk of mortality in cardiac patients. This study investigated the effects of 12 weeks of moderate-intensity endurance exercise (END) and a novel low-volume high-intensity interval exercise protocol (HIT) on measures of heart rate recovery and heart rate variability in patient...

High-Intensity Interval Training Elicits Higher Enjoyment than Moderate Intensity Continuous Exercise

Exercise adherence is affected by factors including perceptions of enjoyment, time availability, and intrinsic motivation. Approximately 50% of individuals withdraw from an exercise program within the first 6 mo of initiation, citing lack of time as a main influence. Time efficient exercise such as high intensity interval training (HIIT) may provide an alternative to moderate intensity continuo...
